TWO men were assaulted after a night out in Kidderminster, police said today.

The assault happened between 1am and 2am on Saturday. The victims, both men in their mid-30s from the Kidderminster area, had left a town centre pub and walked down New Road to get a takeaway.

One of the victims spoke to a group of youths, possibly aged about 17. Both victims were then assaulted. One was punched to the head several times, losing consciousness, and the other was kicked and punched.

The victims were treated at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, one for a fractured eye socket and the other for a broken thumb, cut to the head and sprained ankle.

PC Clare Pearson, of Kidderminster police, said: "Neither of the victims can recall a great deal about the incident. However one of them does remember two females standing over his friend while he was on the floor, saying that he had been kicked, and I am appealing for them or any other witnesses to the assault to contact me on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
