FIGHTING fleas is top of the agenda at one Worcester vets.
Severn Veterinary Centre in Tybridge House, Tybridge Street, Worcester, is offering free flea checks for pets for the whole of National Flea Month, which is running at the moment. Fleas are only five per cent of the infestation. The other 95 per cent consists of eggs, larvae and pupae.
The adult flea will jump on to your pet and take a blood feed within minutes and lay eggs within 24 hours. Adult fleas can each lay about 50 eggs a day on a pet and just one flea can lay a total of 1,500 eggs in its lifetime. Fleas are difficult to find. The best way to check is to look for flea dirt.
