A MAN approached a boy and girl in a playing field in Worcester, police have said.

The incident happened between 5.30pm and 6.05pm on Thursday in Hemsley Place playing field in Warndon.

"The children were upset by what happened, but not physically injured," said Detective Inspector Adrian Todd, who is leading the enquiry.

"We take incidents like this extremely seriously and are focusing our attention on identifying and apprehending this man as quickly as possible.

"As usual, the community can play a crucial role by providing information. Although there were not many people in the vicinity at the time, we hope that someone will have noticed something - or someone - out of the ordinary and come forward to help.

"Local residents are bound to notice increased police activity in the area over the next few days, but they should be reassured by this and not overly-concerned."

The man was aged between 40 and 50 with a grey and white beard and moustache, tanned complexion and scruffy-looking. He was seen to make off towards Hastings Drive in a green car that had been parked opposite Goodrich Avenue.
