IT is pretty much set in stone that 21-year-old Sam Isaac is going to be big. The singer-songwriter's heartbreakingly good music has already been played on Radio 1, Radio 2 and XFM. And last weekend he played Glastonbury.

"It was really nice," he said. "I only found out a couple of days before the gig so it was quite a shock, but really flattering.

"It was weird, because I knew from watching other bands on that stage that it was really loud and you can hear whoever is playing from hundreds of metres away. All the way there and just before, that was all I was thinking about. But when I was up there no sound bounced back so it sounded completely normal.

"There were people across the field, sitting outside a cafe, listening. It was lovely. It was romantic."

It came as a surprise to find out that Isaac, who is now getting ready to play at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, 2000 Trees in Cheltenham and Lattitude in Suffolk, has only been performing seriously since January. Andrew Marston, presenter of BBC Hereford & Worcester's The Friday Session, the show which put his name forward to perform on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, said: "We get sent hundreds of tracks by singer songwriters - but when it's just one man and a guitar, it takes a lot to be something special.

"You can find a lot of subway' acts but Sam's music is really bright and sparkles."

To listen to Isaac's set in full, listen to The Friday Session tonight from 7pm.

On Sunday, July 15, he's playing as part of Our City's Not Dead at the Marr's Bar, Worcester.
