BRAVE teenager Amy Endean was the belle of the ball at her school prom - a month after suffering horrific injuries in a car crash.

The 16-year-old was thrilled to make it to the event, at the Bank House Hotel, near Worcester, after having part of her face reconstructed following a crash at the beginning of June.

The former pupil of The Chase, Malvern, arrived in style in a pink limousine.

"It was really nice to see everyone," said Amy, of Leigh Sinton. "All my friends who hadn't seen me ran up to me and said I looked amazing. It made me feel really happy."

Amy risked losing the sight in her left eye following the crash, in which she sustained fractures to the eye socket, pelvis, cheek and jaw bones.

She had a six- hour operation, during which her scalp was cut from ear to ear, her face peeled back and her eye socket rebuilt, before her wounds were stapled back together.

The 50 staples were only removed from her head on Tuesday afternoon, the day before the prom.

The family would like to thank the Maxillo Facial Team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, who performed Amy's surgery, and Lisa Shepherd Salon in Kidderminster, who gave her a free makeover.
