THE public toilets in Malvern's Edith Walk are being officially reopened today by Malvern Hills District Council's leader Councillor Serena Croad.
The loos were closed last spring by the previous council's Liberal Democrat/Green administration - together with those in Market Street, Tenbury, and Lower High Street, Upton-upon-Severn - amid a storm of protest from residents and the town councils.
All three public conveniences are being repaired and redecorated at a cost of about £33,650 and Upton's WCs were the first to reopen last week. The Tenbury toilets are expected to be back in use next week.
Coun Croad said: "Reopening the three closed public conveniences is a priority. It is important to people living in the district.
"As councillors of the district, we are here to represent the people and deliver what they want and this is undoubtedly an important issue to many local people."
