A DAY nursery in Worcester has been praised by Government inspectors for the quality and standard of its care.

Little Hoots in Bath Road, Broomhall, was rated good' by Ofsted following a recent inspection visit.

The report says the nursery helps children to be healthy, make good progress in learning and improves their understanding of the wider society.

Deputy manager Natasha Stanley said she was pleased about the report, which rated the nursery as good in all areas.

She said: "We are all extremely chuffed. We have worked very hard to provide a safe environment for the children and somewhere they can learn and progress.

"We are coming up to our 10th anniversary so this is a great birthday present."

The report praised the quality and standards of the care and said the quality of teaching and learning was good.

The inspectors said: "Children are cared for in a safe and secure environment where all risks have been identified and minimised.

"Children flourish in the generally well-organised nursery environment and benefit greatly from the experience and expertise of the excellent team of staff who work with them."

The nursery is privately owned and was registered in 1999. There are 36 children on the roll, some with learning difficulties or disabilities.

The inspector's said: "Children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities receive good care. Staff discuss any concerns with parents and encourage them to seek help themselves or to give staff permission to call in outside agencies.

"Staff work in close partnership with other providers who share children's care and put in place individual education plans for these children."

The report did suggest some things the nursery should do to improve.

It said the nursery should maintain a record on any existing injuries to a child, improve the clarity of the written parental permission for emergency medical advice or treatment and extend opportunities to discuss children's learning and development with parents.
