A SCHOOL in Worcestershire has been rewarded for its commitment to encouraging a healthy lifestyle for pupils.
Angela Beddow, headteacher of Pershore's Abbey Park First and Nursery School, said staff and students were "thrilled to bits" to receive a Healthy School Award.
"We have always promoted healthy lifestyles for the children - the food they eat and the exercise they take," she said.
"We've had a sponsored healthy eating week, where they were challenged to eat five fruit and veg a day.
"We also have healthy hot meals from Pershore High School now."
Mrs Beddow said the school had banned sweets and crisps and encourages pupils to come up with healthy options for their lunch-boxes, which are monitored by staff.
