THE investigation into the alleged abduction of a Worcestershire boy has been scaled down.
Police say they have not been able to confirm that an abduction took place in Redditch last week and still, no-one has been reported missing.
On Wednesday, West Mercia police launched the Child Rescue Alert, a new system where the media is immediately brought in to relay public appeals, after receiving a report that a boy, aged about 9, had been seen being bundled into a car in Tredington Close, Woodrow, Redditch.
Despite extensive inquiries officers have not found any evidence of an abduction.
They are, however, urging anyone with information that could help establish what happened to call police on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Officers will continue their high visibility patrols in Woodrow area for the next few days.
