A FATHER is planning to cycle to London to raise awareness for the plight of his son who is trapped in Dubai.

Roy Glass, whose son Mark is trapped in the Arab country by a legal wrangle, says he wants to do as much as he can to get him home.

Mr Glass originally made the 100-mile journey to the capital when his three- year-old niece was born when the family lived there.

However, this time he is planning to go and visit the authorities with a letter from the family, explaining their plight - and try to raise some money for his son's return at the same time. He said: "I just want to raise money and awareness. It's going to be an effort for me but its something I feel I need to do.

"I can't just sit here and do nothing," he said. "All I want is to get Mark home."

Court officials in Dubai took his son's passport a year ago following a car accident and despite numerous court appearances, he still has not had it back. Another court hearing is due for the 34-year-old on Monday, June 25.

Without a passport he cannot work and has had to sleep on a friend's floor.

Mr Glass, of Rainbow Hill, still has to decide on a date for his journey and who to deliver the letter to, but thinks it will be in the next few weeks. He hopes to try to raise £5,000.
