CARERS enjoyed crafts and activities as part of a special event to give them a break in Worcester.

There was a choice of singing for pleasure, creative writing, pottery, tai chi, flower arranging, jewellery and card making.

The aim was to give carers ideas of possible ways to relax from being a carer or of an activity to share with the person they look after.

It was organised by the Worcestershire Association of Carers.

As well as the workshops, a number of other stands, such as Carers Into Education, who offer subsidised courses for carers and Healthy Walking, were there.

The Mayor of Worcester Councillor Stephen Inman opened the day.

He said: "Carers should be recognised for all they contribute to our society.

"Days like this can help give them a break."
