THE Bishop of Worcester walked in chains on Saturday when he joined a walk of witness in remembrance of the abolition of the slave trade.
Dr Peter Selby joined the march from London to Liverpool via Bristol at St Mary's church, Kempsey.
Together with other members of the Diocese of Worcester, he walked along the river Severn to the city centre for a short reception given by the mayor at the Guildhall. Afterwards, there was an open house at the Friends' Meeting House in Sansome Place. After a short service on Sunday the march continued along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal to Tibberton.
The Rev David Ryan, local co-ordinator for the march, said: "I was delighted that Bishop Peter was able to join the marchers to help make a real impression on people in our city."
