CHILDREN from Colwall Primary School in Malvern have been busy collecting re-useable junk in preparation for a community art project that will feature at the school's annual summer fair this week.
The scrap-heap challenge will highlight the importance of recycling. It is part of the fair's environmental sustainability theme and also Colwall's own bid to go green. Alongside the usual stalls and sideshows, the summer fair on Saturday will host a wide range of environmental projects and displays of locally- grown talent.
Headteacher Paul Chambers said: "With our go-green theme this year we can promote local distinctiveness, bio-diversity and environmental sustainability in one go. It has really got the children thinking about caring for the environment."
The event is organised by the Friends of Colwall School which is raising funds to carry out a woodland makeover and biodiversity project in preparation to achieve Forest School status.
The go-green fair starts at 2pm on Saturday at the school in Colwall Green.
