PEOPLE across Worcestershire are being urged to put the kettle on as part of a huge fund-raiser on Thursday.

St Richard's Hospice is calling on people to help them create south Worcestershire's biggest tea party.

One participant is the Boathouse, Waterside, in Upton-upon-Severn, which is inviting people to enjoy a cuppa and slice of cake and donate to St Richard's.

Rachel and Stuart Lemon, who took over the café at Easter, are keen for people to support the hospice and enjoy the views from the balcony over the river at the cafe.

Joanna Street, St Richard's fund-raising assistant, said: "There a lots of ways to get involved this month - organise your own tea at three event, sponsor your boss to make tea for the day or just make a donation in your tea break.

"We want to get the whole of Worcestershire involved. So please put the kettle on."

St Richard's moved into its new £5.25 million hospice at Wildwood Drive, Worcester, at the end of last year. The new hospice contains an in-patient unit for the first time, as well as a day hospice, home care team, counselling and bereavement support and much more.

St Richard's cares for about 1,600 patients and families but needs to raise £3.2 million each year to to do it.
