THE Worcester Severn Rotary Club celebrated its 25th anniversary in style with a distinguished dinner at the Guildhall.

About 150 members and presidents from past and present joined in the celebrations along with the Mayor of Worcester, Stephen Inman, West Mercia Constabulary Chief Constable Paul West and 14 founder members.

Also in attendance was Worcester Warriors chairman Cecil Duckworth, former Worcester MP Lord Peter Walker, as well as Worcestershire County Council vice chairman Alwyn Davies.

Councillor Davies, who helped organise the event, said the meeting was a huge success, adding it was made all the more memorable for staging it at the venue where the club was formed in 1982.

"It is a lovely atmosphere in the Guildhall and we wanted to go back there after 25 years," he said.

"We had a great night - it was excellent."
