ROBIN Walker was right in the thick of it at the Conservative Party conference, getting a plum front row seat for Theresa May's big opening speech.
But the Brexit minister's top status doesn't always bring an upside, with Worcester's MP getting stuck in an odd "sandwich" he won't forget in a hurry.
The entire cohort of paparazzi decided to place themselves directly in front of him for the speech, meaning as the PM spoke he could barely see a thing.
Boris Johnson then sat right behind him, resulting in the flurry of frenzied photographers assembling directly around our MP and cranking their cameras over his head to manically snap every blink of the foreign secretary.
That's showbiz for you.
* WORCESTER councillors Jabba Riaz, Marc Bayliss and Alan Amos are among the city's famous political defectors, but could another be on the cards?
While Robin Walker was enjoying conference he had a mysterious text from a bloke called "Adrian", asking the MP if he could meet someone from the Royal British Legion at the ICC.
Assuming it was Tory Adrian Hardman, he said "yes, are you coming too?" only to realise the message was from Worcester City Council's Labour leader, Councillor Adrian Gregson, once the next text flashed up.
"I'm not coming to your conference," came the scornful response.
* IT is hard to believe how relaxed the atmosphere was in Birmingham compared to the Tory's Manchester conference exactly one year ago.
In October 2015 some 80,000 protestors ran amok around Manchester Central conference centre, with police calling it their biggest security challenge for a decade.
Our MPs had to run a gauntlet of abuse, topped off by Mid-Worcestershire's Nigel Huddleston being spat at.
"It's been like a tea party in comparison," says one.
* ALSO at the conference was West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, who is setting new trends in inexhaustible jet-setting as a defence minister.
In the days running up to the Brummy bash she'd been to the Pentagon in Washington for talks with Barack Obama's deputy defence secretary, France to discuss common security and army equipment, Berlin for a sit-down chat with her German counterpart, and before that Scotland to view two world class navy ships.
It's a good job this one doesn't have a fear of flying!
* GEORGE Osborne has signed up with the prestigious Washington Speaker's Bureau meaning he is now charging £75,000 a pop to give after dinner speeches, more than an MPs yearly salary.
Yet only last month, remember, he was in Worcestershire doing just that after local Tories invited him to a do at Stanbrook Abbey.
Have they been sent the bill yet?
