MUSIC, dance, drama and art will fill Worcester's Guildhall next weekend.

The annual Summer Arts Fair, taking place on Saturday, June 23, is a completely free event and ideal opportunity for Worcester residents to find out more about local arts groups.

Visitors to the fair will be able to watch live performances by various amateur groups, buy works by local artists and talk to people about the city's cultural importance.

Organised by Worcester Arts Council, the aim of the event is to help the city's arts community work together and raise the profile of the local arts in general. As well as live performances by the Worcester Male Voice Choir and the Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the Melting Pot Theatre Company will be performing street theatre. Art demonstrations will take place throughout the day and a number of groups will be manning stalls and encouraging people to join clubs.

Adorning the railings outside the Guildhall will be a work by members of the Worcester Society of Artists. The Mayor of Worcester Stephen Inman will also attend the event. The group behind the fair, Worcester Arts Council, consists of representatives of arts groups and individuals who are dedicated to promoting, producing and supporting the arts in Worcester.

An elected executive committee manages the council's funds and allocates grant aid for local arts projects in addition to organising training and social events for the whole membership. For more information go to www. artscouncil.org.uk The fair takes place between 10.30am and 2pm.
