A DROITWICH woman failed to carry out her community work because she had been stabbed four times in the head.
Kerry Richards had previously been sentenced to carry out 85 hours' unpaid work as part of a community order after she was convicted of possessing a class C drug with intent to supply.
However, the probation service reported that the 23-year-old of Woodmans Rise did not turn up to her appointment on March 11 and failed to give a reasonable excuse.
But at Worcester Crown Court yesterday, defence counsel Abigail Nixon said Richards did not know she was required to write a letter explaining her absence because her mum had taken the phone call and she was bed ridden for two weeks after the stabbing. Judge Andrew Geddes said he understood why Richards had failed to make her appointment so he only added one more day on to her order.
