PEOPLE in a Worcest-ershire town have been told that their public lavatories are set to reopen.
Malvern Hills District Council closed the Upton-upon-Severn toilets in spring 2006 to cut costs and said they would be sold. However, a covenant em-erged saying the buildingin Lower High Street must be kept as toilets.
They have since been refurbished and redecorated and are set to reopen on Friday, June 22. Council leader Serena Croad said: "Reopening the toilets is a priority because it is important to the people of Upton."
Toilets in Malvern's Edith Walk and Market Street in Tenbury Wells are also set to reopen in late June.
The Upton toilets will be the first to open, to coincide with the town's annual jazz festival. The cost of repairing and refurbishing the three buildings is estimated at £33,650, which will be financed from within the existing capital provision for the refurbishment of public conveniences. There will also be £24,800 transferred to fund the costs of operation and servicing during the year.
