CLAINES Pharmacy was showing off new premises back in 1966.
Pharmacist of 35 years Mr SS Massey and his team were busy settling into the new pharmacy at 153 Ombersley Road, a few doors along from their former shop.
Our report noted that: “In the old days, retail pharmacies and chemists’ shops usually supplied lotions and potions for any number of ailments and illnesses, and served the public by making up doctors’ prescriptions.”
But it added: “Today, however, the shelves in chemists’ shops are stocked with a vast selection of goods ranging from cosmetics and photographic equipment to baby food and toilet requisites.”
A new form of pharmacy back in the 1960s, but today we would expect nothing less
