AN EVESHAM paramedic took part in the Miss England finals last month, beating 22,000 women to the stage.
Kim Jones competed in the sports, eco-fashion and evening wear rounds as one of the 50 women to reach the finals.
Miss Jones, who works for West Midlands Ambulance Service, displayed paramedic and dressmaking skills over at the competition in Southport.
The event was held between July 20 and July 21 and drew in a large audience at the venue and online.
Miss Jones, 24, said: “I didn’t make it right to the top but I’m happy to have been part of something that’s raised so much for charity.
“It’s so different from my everyday work with the ambulance service.
“If it had been a 1970’s style beauty parade then I would not have been interested, but this is completely different and shows the world what young women can achieve.”
Miss Jones works in Stoke-on-Trent at the WMAS hub and won the Miss Staffordshire competition in May.
“As Miss Staffordshire I have many months to continue my fundraising and campaigning work. I’d like to thank WMAS, my colleagues and my Evesham friends,” she said.
Some 22,000 women entered to reach the Miss England Finals, with Miss Jones being chosen to represent Staffordshire.
A former Evesham High School student, Miss Jones left the town in 2010 to study Paramedic Science at Northampton University.
The finals raised £52,000 for Beauty With a Purpose, the chosen Miss England charity which works with disadvantaged children.
