POLICE arrived in force at a Worcester hospital as a man was arrested for an alleged assault on a police officer and reportedly a member of hospital staff.
The Worcester News received a report from the family of a patient at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester who said there had been a disturbance and there was a heavy police presence.
She said: "The hospital was swarming with police cars and they were stopping patients going inside."
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We were called at 10.11am today to reports of a man tampering with car park payment machines at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. "The man is also reported to have entered an interior shop and took items of confectionary. The man is also reported to have assaulted a member of hospital staff.
"Officers attended and a 33-year-old man from Kidderminster was arrested on suspicion of theft, assaulting a police officer, common assault and under section 4 of the public order act 1989. He is currently in police custody."
