A WORCESTER butcher taught customers the tricks of his trade in a ‘Butcher’s Masterclass’ at the Asda store in Silver Street.
Rob Underhill, 61, taught eight people in the class the skills he has picked up in his 30 year career.
The class included a practical demonstration and lessons on how to cut, store and prepare meat.
Mr Underhill said: “We are a traditional butcher shop, in a local supermarket.”
“I was very nervous at the beginning but it was good fun and we got to show the range of skills and services we have to offer.”
Providing customers with precisely what they request is what Mr Underhill says makes his job so satisfying.
“They ask me for something specific and I can provide it and then they come back and tell me how good it was,” he said.
The masterclass gave Mr Underhill an opportunity to show people what it meant to be a butcher and he hopes to hold another class soon.
Mr Underhill followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great grandfather’s by becoming a butcher.
