A TELEVISION presenter has added her name to the list of celebrities taking part in this year's hotly-anticipated Worcester City 10K.

BBC Breakfast TV star Louise Minchin will join others in the Run Bike Run challenge, which forms part of the 10K event, on Sunday, September 18.

Ms Minchin, who already participates in triathlon events, will just take on the cycling part of the challenge and is appealing for team mates to run the 10K and 5K sections.

Only last week it was announced champion athlete Jenny Meadows would run the 10K, following in the footsteps of Paula Radcliffe and Jo Pavey who took part in previous years.

Ms Minchin said: "I absolutely love taking part in mass events in different places. I think it is a fantastic way to see a city.

"I have been to Worcester once in my life and it struck me as a really beautiful place.

"For me, the atmosphere of all being involved in this joint endeavour and people coming out to cheer you on is just a really fun way of running and if you do it at an event like that you finish distances you never think you could.

"It is just a great, fun way of doing exercise."

The 2016 Worcester City 10K is organised by Olympic silver medalist Steve Cram’s company Events of the North, in partnership with Worcester City Council.

Starting at Croft Road, the 10k route takes in a variety of the city's best sights including the the Cathedral, Museum of Royal Worcester and River Severn.

Mr Cram said: "I think Worcester is a great city. It has got a lot to offer and it is a lovely size which means the event is right slap bang in the centre.

"The course is beautiful. It means everybody can come and watch. We get great support from people on the side of the road. I think that is what makes it a great event."

The 2016 Worcester City 10K, Run-Bike-Run and Young Athletes Run will all take place on Sunday, September 18 and places are available at worcestercityrun.com
