IMPRESSIVE buildings within the Wychavon district are set to be recognised with awards.

The Design Awards, which run every two years, recognise building projects that show real design quality, craftsmanship and sustainable building practices.

Categories include the heritage award, recognising the conservation of a historic building or new work within an historic context, the home award for a new build and for extensions, the sustainability award for projects demonstrating high standards of energy conservation, and the community architecture award which recognises projects that serve the community such as village halls and schools.

The awards run every two years and are judged by Wychavon representatives with design, heritage and planning experience, design practitioners and members of the civic societies.

Jim Burgin, heritage manager at Wychavon, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing some great examples of brilliant design that we know exist around the district."

To be eligible to enter projects need to have been completed between July 2014 and July 2016, and within the district.

Nominations should include the name and address of the development, which award category the entrant wants to be considered for, the reasons for nomination and contact details for the people and organisation nominating.

These need to be emailed to policy.plans@wychavon.gov.uk, or by filling out a nomination form which can be downloaded from the Wychavon website, wychavon.gov.uk.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, September 9.
