THOUSANDS descended on a Longden farm for a three-day family friendly festival at the weekend.

More than 4,500 people attended Livestock Festival, held at Manor Farm between July 29 and 31, which featured some big name acts on the main stage, alongside upcoming talent on the new Woodland Stage.

The acts appearing at the event included Chesney Hawkes, Jason Donovan, The Fratellis, Reverend and The Makers and Reef.

Reef appeared on Friday and performed a set of over 90 minutes which included popular hit Place Your Hands and newest single How I Got Over You - a cover version of the gospel classic.

On Saturday, Reverend and The Makers set featured their popular debut hit Heavyweight Champion of the World, while The Fratellis appeared and performed hits including Whistle For The Choir and Chelsea Dagger.

On Sunday Chesney Hawkes appeared and at one point invited festival-goers onto the stage to tackle the #22PushUps charity initiative, currently taking social media by storm to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention.

Chesney was challenged to take on the feat by Olympic Boxer, Kelly Morgan, but was unable to take part due to a back injury so instead rallied the crown.

The weekend closed with a nostalgic set from Jason Donovan, including Especially For You, Sealed With a Kiss, Too Many Broken Hearts and Any Dream Will Do.

On the Woodland Stage were new talent including Lila J, Dry Clean Only and We Signal Fire, while in the evening the stage was transformed into a silent disco.

Food and drink was enjoyed throughout the festival, including a Just Jugs bar serving up jugs of cocktails and Pimms.

Ben Leeke, Livestock festival founder, said: “What an incredible second year for Livestock Festival.

"We doubled our numbers on last year. Such a brilliant figure for a festival that’s only in its second year.

"We couldn’t have wished for better weather and throughout the weekend the fields were filled with families and festival-goers enjoying the epic line up."

Preparations are already underway for next year's festival, details of which can be found at livestocklongdon.co.uk.
