A MAN was raped in a public toilet in Worcester, police have revealed.

We reported yesterday that police were investigating a pair of sex attacks on the same male victim said to have taken place in Worcester on Friday (July 29).

Police have now revealed a 35-year-old man from Worcester has been arrested on suspicion of raping a man aged over 16 at public toilets in Cripplegate Park.

The man, who has since been bailed, was also arrested on suspicion of attempting to rape the same victim in Swanpool Walk, St John's.

Both incidents are said to have taken place on Friday, July 29 between 11am and 5pm.

The suspect has been released on police bail until Monday, September 5, while officers continue with their enquiries.

Worcester City Council, which owns and operates the 'pod-style' toilets in Cripplegate Park, says it will "fully co-operate" with the police investigation.

DI Dave Knight said: "We have dedicated a number of resources to this enquiry and the victim is being given all the support necessary.

"There is no danger to any member of the public."

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in Cripplegate Park or Swanpool Walk on Friday.

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident reference 498s, of Saturday, July 30.
