THAI food, Chinese lion dancing and Egyptian belly dancing will all form part of the Eastern Arts and Food Festival in Evesham.

The weekend of events is planned for this Saturday and Sunday, with a series of performances and culinary delights based around the town's Waterside area.

Cantonese, Thai and Turkish food will be on offer alongside balti dishes.

Entertainment will start on a main stage from noon each day.

Thai chi demonstrations, Tatry Polish song and dance and the Mugenkyo Japanese Taiko Drummers will be among the activities.

There will also be origami and mendhi hand painting workshops.

Visitors will be able to stroll through a bazaar selling traditional Eastern goods such as textiles, jewellery and spices and take trips on a river boat.

At 7pm on Saturday there will be a free screening of a Polish film with subtitles.

Lew Hammond, Evesham Market Town Partnership manager, said: "This will be the seventh Eastern Arts and Food Festival and with such brilliant acts and such wonderful attractions, it promises to be bigger and better than ever."

The event is has been organised by a partnership of local people and organisations.
