THE Three Counties Show is celebrating its 50th anniversary on a permanent showground at Malvern by offering a limited number of tickets for this week's event at 1958 prices.

Sharon Gilbert, show press officer, said: "Three Counties Agricultural Society records show that back in 1958, adult admission stood at the princely sum of fifteen shillings, equivalent to around 75 pence in 2007."

"So, each day, there will be 50 tickets, priced at just 75 pence, shared between the public gates and available on a first-come first-served basis.

"This year is a very special one for us. It is the 210th Three Counties Show and the 50th to be held here on the showground. We thought it would be fun to offer some admissions at old ticket prices. Coincidentally, 1958 was also the year the Queen bestowed the honour of Prince of Wales on her son, Charles, so it is extremely fitting that His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, should be visiting the event in our anniversary year."

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting the show on Friday, arriving mid-morning and departing mid-afternoon.

His late grandmother, the Queen Mother, attended the event in 1958, which was the year of the Munich air disaster, the first CND protest march and the opening of Gatwick airport.
