THE garden at Rothbury, 5 St Peter’s Road in North Malvern, is opening this weekend for the National Gardens Scheme.

A cottage-style garden of one third of an acre, it is packed with colourful and fragrant plants surrounding the Arts and Crafts house.

Owner Philippa Lowe said: "Our hot border comes to life in July. The reds of crocosmia, purple lavender, yellow sunflowers and multi-coloured nasturtiums are riotous. On the main lawn, the herbaceous borders are more peaceful blues, whites and lilacs."

Light lunches and teas are available in aid of Parkinson’s UK, and plants from the garden are also for sale.

The garden is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5.30pm. Entry costs £3 for adults and is free for children. All proceeds go to charities including Macmillan and Hospice UK.
