A GERMAN themed festival that takes inspiration from Oktoberfest is set to return this month.

Dubtoberfest, a Bavarian themed Volkswagen Festival, takes place from Friday July 29 to Sunday July 31 at Throckmorton Airfield.

A huge bierkeller with long tables as well as a 60m beer tent will be the main drinking attractions.

A Sunday car show, displaying Volkswagen hundreds of modern and classic vehicles before they are judged in various categories.

Dave Spiers, one of the two organisers said: "There are two key themes, the Volkswagen cars as well as the Bavarian theme where we want to make it like going to Oktoberfest.

"We really want to focus on getting local people in for a day visit on either the Saturday or the Sunday.

"We are the first people to create a themed Volkswagen weekend "Last year was our first year and we were testing to see if there would be an interest and it was successful.

"We are hoping to get about 5,000 people attending over the weekend, last year we had about 1,500 people.

Fun fair rides, a kids play zone and children's entertainers will keep the younger audiences entertained in addition to the Little Dubs Club for a £5 a day wristband allows access to the under 12's play zone.

Mr Spiers added: "There is a massive emphasis on a family atmosphere with the wristband area, as well as a separate camping area for families who might want a quieter area."

Also appearing at the festival will be a food court featuring cuisine from various parts of the world and a trade area including over 50 stalls.

The Oompah Party on Saturday night is described as one of the highlights of the festival where hundreds of guests dress up in traditional lederhosen and drindl.

Cover bands will perform throughout the weekend.

Tickets can be bought from www.dubtoberfest.co.uk weekend camping tickets are £30 for adults. Kids under 16 are free.

Day tickets for Saturday or Sunday are £10 for adults. Kids aged 6-15 are £3 each.
