COUNCILLORS are planning to replace a “dangerous” A38 junction with a roundabout, following a collision on July 13.

The announcement comes after two vehicles collided at the junction which connects the A38 with the A4104.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has previously issued warnings about the junction and pushed for the construction of a roundabout.

Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure, said: “I believe there are plans in place to create a roundabout there but at the moment I’m not sure when that will be accomplished or how much it will cost.

“We recognise that this is a potentially dangerous junction, particularly when the M5 is closed and there’s extra traffic.”

Cllr Pollock said the three counties showground was another source of traffic at the junction.

Harriett Baldwin said: “Local motorists have regularly reported to me that this junction is dangerous and this latest incident is yet more evidence that action needs to be taken.

“I understand that the county council accepts the need for a roundabout and although nothing is planned at the moment, councillors are reviewing this issue as a matter of some urgency.

“I am sure that the police, Safer Roads Partnership and the county council will look into the specifics of this incident.”

Earlier this week we wrote about the MP's campaign to build a roundabout at the junction.

Police said no one was injured in the two vehicle collision at the junction.
