HUNDREDS of people flocked to the annual Warndon Villages Summer Fete, helping to make it a "huge success".

People of all ages attended the event at Lyppard Hub, in Ankerage Green, and enjoyed a wide range of activities including music, stalls and demonstrations.

The annual event, organised by Lyppard Hub and supported by Warndon Parish Council and Tesco is held to celebrate and showcase local organisations, charities and the groups that use the Hub while bringing the whole community together to have fun and enjoy themselves.

The fete was officially opened at noon by 'Elsa', from the hit Disney film Frozen, who entertained her fans with a sing-along and snow.

As well as a wide array of stalls, activities included pony rides, bungee trampolines, live music from local band Treble A, a bake off competition, face painting, vintage fairground rides and demonstrations from dancing to martial arts.

Visitors also had the opportunity to sit inside and explore police vehicles and a fire engine.

The Lyppard Grange Pub was on hand serving up free Pimms and strawberries and cream and held their own family fun day, which continued into the evening. The pub's events raised more than £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Lyppard Hub deputy manager, Maxine Roberts, said: "It was wonderful to see happy crowds of people enjoying the food, music, activities and afternoon sunshine.

"The day was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who came and helped raise money to fund our projects which we provide for the local community."
