ONE of the world's leading concert organists will be giving a special performance at a Worcester church.
Australian star Thomas Heywood will be performing at St Martin’s Church in London Road at 7.30pm on Saturday (July 16).
To mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare, Mr Heywood has called his programme, 'A Shakespearience' and it will feature incidental music by Purcell, Gounod, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn, from the Bard's plays The Fairy Queen, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Shirley Scott, concerts administrator at St Martin’s, said: "It's all great music, and Thomas is a master at making our great organ sound like an orchestra.
"He’s always such fun, too. We’re so privileged to be able to welcome such an international star - the Thomas Heywood Organ Concert has become an annual event, and some people travel many miles to Worcester specially for it.
"He brings with him a sophisticated video system which allows you to watch those fantastic fingers and feet on a big screen and his phenomenal technique takes your breath away."
Doors open at 6.45pm, with a licensed bar available, and tickets cost £12 for adults (accompanied under 16s free).
