AN MP has given a student a once-in-a-lifetime work experience week after inviting her to shadow her during an historic political week.

Emily Tarry-Wright was invited to work alongside West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, who is treasury minister, after writing to Chancellor George Osborne to ask for work experience.

She spent time in Mrs Baldwin's constituency and in Westminster during the recent leadership contest.

Mrs Baldwin said: "I always enjoy giving young people who are interested in politics a taste of what is involved in being an MP.

"Emily was full of curiosity about the role and like me was rooting for Theresa May to be our next Prime Minister.

“I hope that her week's work experience has given her a very detailed insight into the work of an MP and the wide variety of issues that get covered in a week’s work.

“At a time when we saw a leadership contest including two female candidates, it is very timely to be welcoming the next generation of leaders to Westminster and I hope Emily was inspired and informed by her work experience.”
