PART of a large colourful mural created by students from Tudor Grange Academy has been pulled down to make way for a new shop front.
The artwork on United Footwear, Upper Tything, was created in 2010 by year seven pupils along with graffiti artists David Brown and Matt Reeves.
It features Worcester's most famous landmarks along with its civil war history, motto and symbol of the black pears.
It is being partially removed to create a glazed shop front with a recessed step entrance.
The planning committee report said: "The alterations would result in the mural being lost but it had been suggested that the school who had done it be contacted to see if they wished to do another.
"The Committee had suggested maybe the side elevation or maybe on roller shutter doors which had been suggested to the applicant, but not on the street elevation."
It was approved on Thursday, June 23.
@worcesternews Any idea why this wonderful 'Faithful City' artwork is being pulled down? pic.twitter.com/DaajVsUlMk
