A DROITWICH school will hold a gala charity dinner to help raise £5,000 to transform its outdoor area into an all-weather facility.

Pupils at Droitwich Spa High School's inclusion centre enjoy using the area but each year the school's gazebos are weather-damaged or blown away.

Paul Buckell, who runs the Inclusion Centre at the school, said: "We spend about £500 a year on gazebos so that we can make the most of our outdoor space, but every year the weather defeats us and either blows them away or damages them sufficiently that we can’t use them the following year.

"What we need is a really strong canopy that will last for years and will also be aesthetically pleasing.

"The centre is all about raising the aspirations of the students to ensure they get the very best from school. "Allowing them to work and play in an environment that is both safe, practical but also beautiful is part of ensuring that students are happy to come to school and happy to learn."

The centre, which has been running at the school for ten years, needs to raise more than £5,000 to transform the centre into an all-year, all-weather student facility.

The dinner will be held at the town's Chateau Impney on Saturday, October 8.

Local cover band The Works will play at the event and guests will be able to take part in a charity auction.

Tickets cost £40 and will go on sale in a few weeks.
