A FORMER leader of Worcester City Council teamed up with two party colleagues to raise money for good causes in Warndon villages.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, who leads the Conservative group, donned an apron alongside the deputy Mayor of Worcester Steve Mackay and Alan Feeney at the fifth annual Warndon villages fete.

The trio of councillors ran the barbecue, flipping burgers at the bash last Sunday as families enjoyed themselves.

Councillors Bayliss and Mackay used to sit on Warndon Parish Council and are long-term backers of the event.

Councillor Bayliss said: "This is the fifth time I’ve helped with the event.

"It's great to be able to support it and put something back into the local community.

"Every year this event reminds me of the huge range of activities available locally, it's a great showcase for the voluntary and sporting organisations of Worcester.

"It also shows that with a relatively small amount of financial support from the parish council and the dedicated work of the Lyppard Hub team, hundreds of local people can have a great day out."
