HEALTH and safety posters for construction sites have been designed by Worcester pupils.

Youngsters from Perdiswell Primary School created the posters for a competition with Speller Metcalfe designed to raise awareness of safety around the sites.

The winners from each year group won £25 gift vouchers while the runners up were given £15 gift vouchers in a presentation during assembly.

Ebony Kemp, a year 6 pupil and one of the prize winners said: “It was fun not to do normal lessons!

"I love art and I’ve learnt a lot about how to stay safe.”

The money raised for the gift vouchers was donated by Speller Metcalfe and their sub-contractors who are currently on site near the school at Perdiswell Leisure Centre building the new £10 million swimming pool and refurbished leisure centre.

Tom Isgar of Speller Metcalfe said: "It’s great to come and see all the finished designs.

"We’re really proud of all the posters which will now go up on our site and help to raise awareness about why safety is so important."

Peter Jones, assistant headteacher at the school said: “The school has really appreciated the link with Speller Metcalfe this term and all the children loved the opportunity to take part in the poster competition.”

Other sub-contractors who helped make the competition possible included Malvern Scaffolding, Britannia Site Solutions, Goldcup Services, We Build, EH Humphries, Barrie Beard, ADR Aluminium, Buckingham Swimming Pools Ltd and S & R Site Services.
