HIGH achieving students from Malvern have secured their place among the best students in the world.

There were eight pupils from Malvern College that scored 42 points and over in their International Baccalaureate (IB) results.

The IB is an internationally respected qualification and is thought to be a passport to top universities.

The eight students' results places them in the top three per cent of pupils worldwide.

The global average is 30 points.

Clare Cocker gained 45 points - the maximum score possible - which secured her a place in the top 0.01 per cent of students sitting the exams across the globe.

She will now go on to study Biology at Magdalen College, Oxford.

The global average is of 30 points which offers students more UCAS points than three A* at A-level.

Oxford offers begin at 38, a standard met by 40 pupils, or 47 per cent of those at Malvern College who studied the IB there.

All those who reached the standard for Oxford and Cambridge will now be able to take up their places while others must wait for their A-level results.

Headmaster, Antony Clark, said: “We are extremely pleased with the news of these outstanding results and we congratulate the pupils who worked with flair and insight.

"They are amongst the brightest in many thousands worldwide, and I anticipate that they will have brilliant careers at university and in the world of work.”
