TWO drivers were approached by two men who asked for a lift then became abusive when they were turned down in Kidderminster in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

West Mercia Police believe the two incidents of harassment are linked despite the description of the two men differing slightly.

Two men approached a man from Stourport while driving at around 12.20am on Stourport Road as the car was crossing the bridge over the railway near to KFC. The 23-year-old slowed down and spoke with the two men who asked for a lift to Stourport, which he refused.

The men became aggressive and attempted to get into the victims vehicle and kicked his car.

No damage was caused to the vehicle and the victim then drove away.

The first man is described as white, in his middle thirties, 5'9'' - 5'10'' tall and of a slim to medium build with dark brown short to medium length 'messy' hair, short on the sides and longer on the top.

He was wearing a black leather jacket and dark trousers.

The second man is described as in his late twenties to mid thirties, 5'9'' to 5'10'', of a stock build with messy blonde/brown hair of a medium length.

He was wearing a grey polo shirt and dark blue jeans.

It is believed to be linked to an attempted robbery in the same location, reported at 12.40am that same evening.

In that incident, two men again approached a man in a vehicle and asked for a lift to Stourport.

When the victim said no, one of the men tried to slip his hand into the vehicle via a partially open window to take the car keys.

The man became irate and verbally abused the victim before punching the car window.

No damage was caused to the vehicle and the victim drove away.

Both men are described as white, in their early thirties, around 5'6'' in height and of a medium built.

One man had ginger curly hair, short on the sides and long on the top with short stubble on his face.

He was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans, a blue t-shirt and white trainers.

The other man had black hair, short on the sides with a fringe and dark stubble on his fact. He was wearing a red plain t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

While the descriptions of the suspects differ slightly the similarities in the incidents and location mean we are treating these offences as linked.

Anyone witnessed either of the incidents, or has any information which may help investigation, are urged to call 101, quoting incident 13 of 11 July 2016.
