TWO Worcestershire colleges have been given the go-ahead to merge, it has been confirmed.
Pershore College at Avonbank will merge with Warwickshire College, while Holme Lacy College, near Hereford, will merge with Herefordshire College of Technology.
Secretary of State for Education Alan Johnson has rubber-stamped the merger, which will take place in August.
The approval comes after a public consultation, votes in favour of the plan by governors at all colleges, and approval by the Learning Skills Council.
Warwickshire College principal Loan Morgan, who is also interim principal at Pershore College, said: "It's now the hard work really starts."
