MEMORIES today of one of the best known street trading families in Worcester.
Well known by sight if not necessarily name, because most people who have meandered up The Shambles at one time or another will recall the flower stall at the St Nicholas Street end of the thoroughfare, behind St Swithun's Church.
It was almost as much a fixture of the city as the cathedral and had been operating since the 1880s.
It was run by various members of the Stanley family for several generations and became part of the character and colour of the area.
It was started by James "Stan" Stanley, who began by selling flowers in the summer and anything he could get hold of, usually razor blades or lace, in the winter.
This photograph of The Shambles Flower People was taken in 1985 when they comprised Eileen O'Hara, Richard Cain, Edna Cain and Eileen Roberts.
