A WORCESTER man who founded a charity to support vulnerable children in Nepal is heading back to the country to continue his work.

Ed Turner, who founded Operation Nepali Child, will fly to Nepal on Sunday to continue supporting an orphanage –Sharada's Shelter for Children – in the disaster-stricken country.

Last year, Nepal was devastated by two severe earthquakes in the space of three weeks.

Mr Turner, a former RGS Worcester student, has been back to the country since the earthquakes and said: "At first I didn't think it had improved at all, I thought it had got worse because the government was very slow to take action.

"It is getting better - there is no petrol crisis any more, that cleared up in February or March. But development is slow, there is still a lot of problems with supporting children and making sure they are cared for."

The majority of the children Operation Nepali Child support live in the district of Lalitpur in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal.

The 25-year-old added: "With more funding we could raise more support. We could support more some kids who do not have any support. We have got to be positive and look for the best way of making a difference."
