THERE are more entries in the equestrian classes at the Three Counties Show than ever before.

This year's total of 2,700 beats the previous best in 2006 of 2,500, proving the horse world is alive and kicking.

One of the main attractions is that there are no less than 39 Horse Of The Year Show and Royal International Horse Show qualifiers for 2007. The Three Counties Agricultural Society has added a brand new Horse Of The Year Show qualifier for ridden mountain and moorland ponies to its schedule, together with a novice ridden mountain and moorland ponies qualifier for the NPS/Picton Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden Championship.

Improvements include access to an online list of results for all classes, available at the end of each day of the show.

The society has implemented a significant regeneration of its equine facilities in recent years, to include the breaking down of compacted surfaces, the installation of a permanent irrigation system and new fencing for the warm-up area.

Soaring horse entries reflect the continuing programme of improvements, which continues on the showground with resurfacing the road from the main entrance and refurbishing the toilet facilities.
