A WOMAN who helped establish St Richard's Hospice in Worcester has been given a prestigious award.
Jeanie Young, a founder governor of the hospice, now situated in Spetchley, was presented with the Paul Harris Award by Worcester Severn Rotary Club. A tireless and inspirational motivator, Mrs Young said she accepted the award on behalf of everyone who has ever worked for the hospice.
"It was very much teamwork and I have always considered myself part of a team," she said.
Mrs Young was one of the original team members who set up South Worcestershire's Hospice At Home scheme in 1984, which evolved into St Richard's. She was chairman of governors of the hospice from 2000 until the start of 2007 - a period that saw the planning, fund-raising and building of the new hospice.
