Security officers had to restrain a 27 year old German male yesterday, after he managed to climb aboard the popemobile in St Peter\'s Square and come within a few feet of Pope Bendict XVI.
It took atleast 8 officers to pin the crazed terrorist to the ground, who has now been taken to hospital for psychiatric assesment.
The man, wearing a pink T-shirt, dark shorts, a beige baseball cap and sunglasses managed to hold on to the vechicle for several seconds before he was removed.
The 80 year old Pope was not harmed in the incident and appeared to be unaware of what was happening behind him, as he carried on waving to the crowd of around 40,000.
The methods of security are now being reviewed, looking for means of improvement as several attempts have been made on the lives of recent Popes.
