A FUND set up in memory of two teenagers killed in a car accident last year will be officially launched at an event this weekend.

The family of Droitwich's Martyn Pickering have set up the fund and also helped organise activities on Saturday.

The parents of Martyn and Stephanie Goodall, who was also killed in the crash, will launch the Stephanie And Martyn Memorial.

Martyn, aged 18, was killed when his car left the A449 near Ombersley on December 10, 2006.

Martyn and friends Kyle Gadsby, also from Droitwich; and Stephanie Goodall and Joanne Bibby, both from Worcester, were all killed in the accident. The event will be used to pay tribute to them all.

All money raised will go towards a project to put a Droitwich High School pupil through higher education.

With the help of town-based firm DHL and Droitwich leisure centre, Martyn's parents Joanna and David will be lending their support to a number of attractions.

The event will be held on Droitwich's King George's Playing Fields and the leisure centre, off Briar Mill, and will run from 11am.

A five-a-side football tournament, crossbar challenge, a fun fair, licensed bar, bouncy castle, bucking bronco, tombola, market stalls, truck displays and other attractions are planned for the big day.

It is hoped that the event will prove popular for all ages.

DHL Exel, which Martyn did some work for, has also offered to match the amount raised at the event on the day.

An evening adult event will then take place at Worcester Rugby Club were Smooth FM DJ Mike Hollis will host a raffle, auction and disco.

A balloon release will be a highlight for people who have gathered to remember the four teenagers or help raise cash for the fund.

Martyn's dad David said: "We would like to thank everyone who has made it possible and supported us. Droitwich Leisure Centre, Wychavon District Council, Mayor Richard Morris and DHL have been great. It wouldn't be possible without them.

"The event has come together with a lot of hard work."
