AN unpleasant smell from a pig farm near Worcester will be a thing of the past for its neighbours after councillors agreed the farm could become a fencing contractor's yard.
Five of the agricultural buildings at Hogbrook Farm, Lower Town, near Fernhill Heath, will be used by Hurley Fencing for the business.
The rest of the land will be farmed by the owner of the company, Ian Hurley.
Some letters of objection had been received highlighting concerns about extra traffic in the area.
However, Mr Hurley told Wychavon district councillors that he had previously been a farmer before diversifying into the fencing business and said his new business would be preferable to the smell that currently came from the farm.
Councillor Audrey Steel agreed, saying: "I think this is a great improvement on what's there already. The smell is not pleasant."
Councillors voted unanimously to allow the plan to go ahead.
