FORMER pupils and staff of a Worcester special school are being invited to a reunion sports day before the school closes for good this summer.

Thornton House is due to shut in August, along with fellow Worcester special schools Manor Park and Rose Hill.

The three will be replaced with two new schools set to open in September - Fort Royal Community Primary School on the former Thornton House site, and Regency High School on the Rose Hill site.

The school is hosting a sports day and open day on Thursday, July 19, when organisers want all ex-pupils and staff to join current students and teachers for a morning of events.

A spokesman for the school said: "The children will be giving sporting demonstrations and at noon there will be a presentation to the headteacher and deputy, who are retiring. We would like all former pupils and staff to come along and join us for the event."

The event takes place between 10am and noon.

Any former staff or students who want to go along should contact Janet Weaver or Phil Baker on 01905 355525.
